This guide describes how to add a Real World Technology Solutions Hosted Exchange mailbox to Outlook 2016 on Windows via IMAP.
IMAP Settings
These settings can be used in other IMAP email programs. The instructions on this page focus on adding these settings to Outlook 2016.

Outlook 2016
- If you have not used Outlook before, start the Outlook application. You will presented with a Welcome to Microsoft Outlook 2016 window. Click the Next button at the bottom of the window.
The Microsoft Outlook Account Setup - Add an Email Account window will appear. At the question: Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account?, choose Yes, and then click the Next button.
Skip to Step 3 - If you already use Outlook, start the Outlook application. Your existing email account will appear. Click the File tab at the top left of the Outlook window.
In the Account Information page that is displayed, click the + Add Account button.
- In the Add Account - Auto Account Setup window, choose Manual setup or additional server types near the bottom of the window, and then click the Next button.
- In the Add Account - Choose Your Account Type window, choose POP or IMAP, and then click the Next button.

In the Add Account - POP and IMAP Account Settings window, fill in the fields with the below information.
User Information Your Name: Type in your name (for example: John Smith) Email Address: Type in the email address of your Real World Technology Solutions mailbox
(for example: someone@somewhere.com)Server Information Account Type: Choose the IMAP option Incoming mail server Type imap.exchange.thecore.net.au Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type smtp.exchange.thecore.net.au Logon Information Your Name: Type in the email address of your Real World Technology Solutions mailbox
(for example: someone@somewhere.com)Password: Your email address password Remember password: Make sure there is a tick in this checkbox
The information should look similar to the sample shown below. When all the information has been entered, click the More Settings... button. - In the Internet Email Settings window, within the General tab, under the section Mail Account, type in a name that you would like this account to appear as within Outlook. You can enter your name, email address, or what the account will used for. When done, click the Outgoing Server tab.
- In the Internet Email Settings window, within the Outgoing Server tab, place a tick in the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox, then choose Use same settings as my incoming mail server, and then click the Advanced tab.
- In the Internet Email Settings window, within the Advanced tab, under the section Server Port Numbers, below the field Incoming server (IMAP) area, in the Use the following type of encrypted connection pull down box, choose the SSL option. Notice that the Incoming server (IMAP) port number changes to 993. Below the Outgoing server (SMTP) area, in the Use the following type of encrypted connection pull down box, choose the TLS option. Notice that the Outgoing server (SMTP) port number does not change. Replace the number 25 with 587. When finished, click the OK button.
- You will return to the Add Account - POP and IMAP Account Settings window. Click the Next button.
- A Test Account Settings window will then appear. When Outlook has completed testing the account settings successfully, click the Close button.
- If an Add Account - You're all set! window is then shown, click the Finish button.
- Outlook will then start and display your mailbox.
